Good News from Bible Society

Bible Society has a new Logo

Bible Society has a new logo showing an open Bible and a cross. It’s to emphasise that, while a key part of Bible Society’s mission is translation, publication and distribution of the Bible around the world, there is a renewed focus on inviting people in our country to discover the Bible for themselves.

We have a new project for the focus of
our church’s Mission Partnership with Bible Society:
Bible Society in the Middle East

So much has changed, and needs are different, in the region since we began partnering with Bible Society of Egypt’s Bookshop and Ministry Centre in Minya nearly 15 years ago. Bible Society is now involved in many different ways to share the good news of Jesus throughout the whole area.

We are, therefore, pleased to let you know that we are now extending our church’s partnership to include all of Bible Society’s work in the Middle East which is more good news.

Some of the areas and projects with which we may be involved include:

  • Egypt: continuation of our link with the Minya Bookshop and Ministry Centre

  • Jordan: providing practical aid as well as Bibles to refugees from Iraq and Syria

  • Syria: where Bible Society is training and resourcing Sunday School teachers

  • The ‘Bible Lands’ Group: working amongst different communities for practical reasons together trying to bring God’s hope through the Bible in that troubled area

  • Lebanon: offering trauma healing including to youngsters at summer camps

  • The Gulf States: providing Bibles in different languages for migrant workers

Al Massira App Update

Here’s the latest from Andy at Al Massira:

I thought I would update you on the progress of the AM Apps to date - as we continue to develop the capacity and reach of these apps. The SD Card App (Africa version) is now in its third iteration with 7 languages on it - and is so much appreciated in all the areas of Africa that have poor or unstable internet. The Web app now has 14 languages on it and we are expecting to add another 10 over the next 2-3 weeks.  Since the 2021 Christmas Appeal used the smartphone messaging. Thank you for your past investment in these Apps - they are now bearing fruit all over the world.

For your encouragement and prayers - I share with you also a photo sent in from N Ireland this morning - one of 8 Iranians being baptised after going through Al Massira over the last 6 months.

Blessings Andy

Lydia Evans’ Commissioning

on Sunday 16th April

Prayer points:

Calmness and clarity over packing, preparations and farewells prior to travel.

Smooth travel on Friday 21st and a warm welcome on arrival in Madrid.

For Lydia’s Spanish rapidly to become fluent again.

For God’s guiding and provision on where to live and which church to join.

To make friends quickly.

For God's guidance on when to start work with Amar Dragoste and for good relationships with colleagues and clients, and, in due course, to see lives transformed.

For Lydia’s parents, David and Kate, as their daughter moves abroad.
