small groups

Why join a Small Group?

It’s a brilliant way to be part of the family at St Matthew’s & The Minster, and to deepen both faith and friendships.

Small groups help us to get to know and take care of each other.

And they give us an opportunity to encourage one another as followers of Jesus as we study God’s word in the Bible and pray together.

Small Groups meet at various times throughout the week- find a time and group to suit you

If you would like to join a small group, get in touch with the Small Group coordinators via the church office.

Central Small Groups meet at St Matthew’s on Thursday evenings at 7pm for a meal, and 8pm-9.30pm for Bible Study and prayer. This is particularly aimed at our students and 20s & 30s, and we have various socials throughout the year. To find out more, contact the church office.

What People love about small groups

“You get to the point I think, where you just genuinely care about each other. And to have a group of people who are dedicated to genuinely encouraging you in your faith, it is unlike anything in the world.”

“Because we are a small group, we can actually listen to each other and apply the things we are learning to our individual lives. So we are all talking about what the passage is actually telling us to think and do in reality.”

“To see people grow in their understanding of God’s love and to get rid of the clichés – all the sort of religious jargon that they have built up over the years – and instead find out what is real underneath it all.”
